“MOUTH PIECE”
    WEEKLY DEBATE NIGHT

 

As long as the “Pub” has existed as a venue to meet friends, enjoy a drink and have a chat, it has existed as a place where you can talk about all the things considered rude to bring up at the dinner table. All those contentious topics, surrounding politics, religion or even the passion for your favourite football team. The topics that can turn a civil conversation into a fiery debate, they are what you will hear being discussed at any type of bar, anywhere in the world. A pint in one hand and a point in the other, each man and woman a mouthpiece for the things they are passionate about and what a better way to get to the core of any topic but over a relaxing drink in a social environment. The Front Lounge has witnessed many debates, every evening in fact, and heard many a controversial subject be raised, so why not give everyone a chance to speak out and be heard. Not only enjoy a pint but experience the excitement of a powerful debate right on stage in front of you.


We would like you to get involved, to have your say and to enjoy a drink or two with us while doing so. We have put together an evening, a weekly event, where we will pit college against college, friend against foe and professional connoisseur against the obsessed “experts” with passion and we hope to get to the core of some topics on the tip of all of our tongues for our entertainment, education and the right to have your say and be heard in an environment that has housed debates from it’s very dawn.

There will be promotional drinks for all participants and great prizes to be won! So hurry…. Don’t miss the opportunity to be heard and have a great night In.

Each team must provide two speakers. One will need to be prepared to speak for 7minutes on the chosen topic. The second will need to be prepared to answer a series of impromptu questions on the topic

7:45    - All debaters should be present (two speakers per team)
8:00    - An introduction on the topic will be done by our host and expert on

              all things controversial “Buffer”
            - The first speaker from each team will have 7 minutes to speak
8:30    - 15minute break
8:45    - Buffer will then pose a series of questions to the second speaker of

               each team, a time to be quizzed on the topic and for rebuttal
9:15    - The winner will be announced along with the topic for the

               following week
